Join us at Craigieburn Festival to get involved with local sustainability projects or promote your own project! The Sustainability Hub will be the place to engage with members of Council's Sustainable Environment department and find out more about cool local environmental initiatives. If you have a sustainability project you'd like to share at the Craigieburn Festival Sustainability Hub, contact Council's Sustainability Engagement Officer on 9205 2845. While you're there, we can help you make a pledge for a new sustainable action that you can take in 2019, and children can get their hands dirty and plant a seedling. The Craigieburn Festival aims to be free from balloons, single-use plastic bags and straws. The Craigieburn Festival is on Saturday 2 March at Craigieburn ANZAC Park from 11.30am–9.30pm Citizen science urban microclimate workshops We are looking for enthusiastic citizen scientists to measure microclimates in your neighbourhood. You'll learn about 'urban heat islands', which are places where the temperature is higher than average. The aim of this study is to help citizens respond to extreme heat and understand the factors influencing local urban microclimates, such as design features, greenery and materials. This will also help policy makers plan for the future. The Live Green program is partnering with RMIT and the University of New South Wales to gather climate data from municipalities all over Australia. ■ 1pm–3pm, Friday 1 March, Broadmeadows ■ 1pm–3pm, Saturday 2 March, Craigieburn ■ 1pm–3pm, Sunday 3 March, Sunbury Check out the Upcoming Events section on the back page for more information. citizenscienceproject.org.au FIND OUT MORE hume.vic.gov.au/craigieburnfestival FIND OUT MORE See us at the Craigieburn Festival Sustainability Hub 2 LIVE GREEN Hume City Council
