World Environment Day Planting WEDNESDAY 5 JUNE, 10AM Mt Ridley Nature Conservation Reserve Eucalyptus Ct, Mickleham The Mt Ridley Nature Conservation Reserve needs more mid-storey tree and shrub species to create habitat for increasingly rare small woodland birds. These birds play an important role in controlling infestations of sap-sucking lerp insects, which impact on the health of the majestic River Red Gums. Lunch provided. Vantage Set Match – Craigieburn Planting SATURDAY 15 JUNE, 10AM Vantage Boulevard Nature Reserve Corner of Vantage Blvd and Essence Pkwy, Craigieburn Help plant into this new Council nature reserve, which needs quite a bit of love to restore native sedges and grasses. Free lunch (pizza) provided. JULY Blind Creek Gems – Sunbury Planting SATURDAY 20 JULY, 10AM Blind Creek Parklands Blind Creek Blvd, Sunbury In a hidden bend of Blind Creek, there's a little gem of native vegetation remaining. With the Friends of Blind Creek, Council is doing a community planting to increase the number of indigenous wildflowers and grasses occurring in this area. Lunch provided. AUGUST Edge in the Sedges – Malcolm Creek Planting THURSDAY 15 AUGUST, 10AM Malcolm Creek Parkstone View, Craigieburn Planting efforts along Malcolm Creek continue to focus on re-establishing native reeds, sedges, grasses and shrubs along its banks. Join Shah Satnam Ji Green S Welfare Force Society for a tasty vegan lunch. Hilltop Neighbourhood – Jackson's Hill Sunbury Planting SATURDAY 17 AUGUST, 10AM Jacksons Hill Reserve Hammersmith Ct, Sunbury Join the Friends of Holden Flora Reserve as they complete this large revegetation project. Free lunch provided. Wildflower Wonders SUNDAY 25 AUGUST, 10AM Malcolm Creek Grassland Malcolm Creek Pde, opposite intersection with Penola Pl, Craigieburn Wildflower grasslands once covered large parts of Victoria, which have now been virtually wiped out. Council is holding a massive wildflower planting at one of Craigieburn's most well-loved native grasslands. Free BBQ lunch provided.
