Hume City Council recognises the rich Aboriginal heritage within the municipality and acknowledges the Gunung-Willam-Balluk of the Wurundjeri as the Traditional Custodians of this land. Council embraces Aboriginal living culture as a vital part of Australia's identity and recognises, celebrates and pays respect to the existing family members of the Gunung-Willam-Balluk and to Elders past and present. Mayor's Message Council has launched Hume Together to support the community during this period of social distancing. This campaign is about creating other ways for the community to participate in positive and uplifting activities. Online library storytimes and livestreamed fitness classes are just some of the ways Hume City Council is countering the impacts of social distancing as part of Hume Together – just search for #HumeTogether on social media. The community are encouraged to take advantage of Council's HumeFit app, which can help you create a program from our library of exercises requiring no equipment. You can also use HumeFit to log your daily activity and help you work towards your goals. Along with new ways to connect and enjoy Council programs through Hume Together, we have ensured we can continue to offer essential services. You can still contact Customer Service over the phone, report issues online and your waste will still be collected. Hume Together is also about resilience and positivity. I hope that when you see #HumeTogether and the Hume Together logo, you are reminded of how strong we are as individuals and, importantly, as a community. Use #HumeTogether to connect with services like you've never been able to before, use it to share positive messages and use it to let everyone in our community know they are never alone. We are all in this together, and we will get through this together.
